Why should you keep your toes up while riding?
  • So they don't get caught between the road and the footrest
  • So you can reach the rear brake lever a little more quickly
  • So you can see the instrument panel clearly over your knees
  • So your boots don't scrape against the hot exhaust pipe

So they don't get caught between the road and the footrest

Keep your feet on the footrests and the motorcycle as upright as possible.

If you are in doubt about who has the right-of-way, you should:
  • Flash your lights and go
  • Go first, firmly and quickly
  • Let the other driver go first
  • Sound your horn and go

Let the other driver go first

When in doubt, yield the right-of-way. It is one of the handbook's ways to make Ontario's roads safer.

Who should set the pace for a group ride?
  • The fastest rider in the group
  • The leader at the front
  • The newest rider in the group
  • The rider at the back

The rider at the back

Watch the rider behind you in your mirror and slow down if they fall behind.

You can't avoid a patch of ice or wet wooden surface ahead. You should:
  • Accelerate to get across it as quickly as you can
  • Brake firmly while you're on it, to keep your speed down
  • Lean the motorcycle to one side for more tire grip
  • Slow down before it, then coast across without braking

Slow down before it, then coast across without braking

On a motorcycle with a clutch, pull it in and coast. Use a foot to hold it up if you need to.

If you pass the Level One road test on a limited-speed motorcycle or moped, you get:
  • A G2 licence instead of an M2
  • A full M2 with no conditions
  • An M2 with an L condition
  • An M2 with an M condition

An M2 with an L condition

The L condition restricts you to limited-speed motorcycles and mopeds, and not on certain roads.

Speeding fines in a construction zone when workers are present are:
  • Doubled
  • The same as anywhere else
  • Tripled
  • Waived if you slow down

Doubled

Fines for speeding in a designated construction zone are doubled when workers are present.

When must drivers and cyclists stop for a pedestrian crossover?
  • Only during school hours
  • Only when a crossing guard is present
  • Only when the overhead lights are flashing
  • Whenever a pedestrian is crossing in it

Whenever a pedestrian is crossing in it

Drivers and cyclists must yield to pedestrians in the crossover. Pedestrians may push a button to flash the overhead yellow lights as a warning.

The purpose of a motorcycle's gears is to:
  • Keep the headlight bright when riding at low speeds
  • Let the brakes work properly without using the clutch
  • Match the engine's speed to the motorcycle's speed
  • Save fuel by switching off some cylinders on the highway

Match the engine's speed to the motorcycle's speed

The right gear also gives you power to accelerate when you need it.
