Before you can get a learner's licence in Saskatchewan (Class 7, then Class 5), you have to pass SGI's knowledge test. It checks that you know the rules of the road and can read road signs. The practice tests on this page use the same format, and every answer comes with a short explanation.
A few questions from the practice bank. Tap one to see the answer.
80 km/h
In the absence of signs, the speed limit is 80 km/h under ideal conditions.
The vehicle on the right
At an uncontrolled intersection, the vehicle on the left must yield to the vehicle on the right. This also applies at T-intersections.
60 km/h
Saskatchewan's slow-to-60 law also applies to Ministry of Highways equipment with lights flashing, and to tow trucks stopped with amber (or amber and blue) lights flashing.
Three seconds
When the vehicle ahead passes a fixed point, count; you should not reach the point in less than three seconds.
Zero
New drivers have zero tolerance for alcohol.
A school zone or school crosswalk
The pentagon shape is reserved for school zones and school crosswalks. Watch for children and obey the posted school-zone speed.
Stop completely, then go when it is safe, as at a stop sign
Treat a flashing red light the same as a stop sign.
The Class 5 and 7 knowledge test has two parts: a rules of the road test with 20 questions and a road sign test with 30 questions.
You need 80% on each part: at least 16 out of 20 on the rules test and at least 24 out of 30 on the sign test.
No. Every question here is original, written from the rules in the Saskatchewan Driver's Handbook and checked against the current edition. This site is not affiliated with SGI.
