Quebec learner's licence and SAAQ knowledge test

Who can apply, what to bring, what happens if you don't pass, and the rules once you have it. Then practise for the test.

Step by step

  1. At a driving school, complete the first four modules of Phase 1 of the driving course and pass the school's knowledge test (Module 5).
  2. Make an appointment with the SAAQ (Service Outlets on saaq.gouv.qc.ca). Bring two accepted documents, your Phase 1 attestation and, if you're a minor, the consent of your parental authority. Pass the vision test and pay for your learner's licence.
  3. Hold your learner's licence for at least 10 months, then make your SAAQ knowledge test appointment online on SAAQclic.
  4. Go to the test with your learner's licence and the fee.
  5. After passing it, and with at least 12 months on your learner's licence, you can book the road test.
